Many times a trade in represents more hassle and frustration when buying a vehicle.
You want to maximize the value of your trade as well as take advantage of any tax savings that may apply. This is another area where I can offer assistance. I am a licensed Ontario Wholesale Dealer and have many contacts in the used vehicle market to assist in selling your trade.
I will help to find the best way to maximize your trade value. There are several options available to get you the best price.
1) I will obtain a bid on your trade from the dealership quoting on your new vehicle.
2) I will contact several of my used vehicle buyers and acquire bids on your trade.
3) I can assist you to sell your trade privately.
There are certainly pros and cons for each option but, it is safe to say, we should explore all avenues to determine which one benefits you the most.
Your trade will reduce sales taxes on the purchase of another vehicle. In order to qualify, you must have ownership of the trade. For instance, a trade cannot be a leased vehicle owned by a leasing company.
Currently you will save 8% PST plus 6% GST on the trade value when applied to another vehicle. For example, assume you have a trade that is worth $10,000.00; you would save taxes on your new vehicle purchase in the amount of $1,400.00, ($10,000.00 x 14%). The net amount works out to $11,400.00. You would need to sell your car privately for more than $11,400.00 to make it more beneficial then trading it.
